Deputy Chief of Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, Gen.-Maj Vadym Skybytsky, reported yesterday that Russia has been striking military targets in Ukraine, including factories producing weapons—as opposed to the constant repetition of the pretense that Russia is targeting civilians. RBC-Ukraine published the first part of an extensive interview with Skybytsky and identified as a key takeaway that “Russia is concentrating its strikes on Ukraine’s defense industry, logistics, and energy facilities that support logistics and port infrastructure.”
Other key points identified were “the development of a Russian Starlink equivalent” called Rassvet, which is being deployed “much faster than originally planned;” Russia’s meeting of “production targets for its main missile types at 110-120% per month;” it met its “annual production target for Zircon and upgraded Onyx missiles” before August 1; and it “reached record levels in the number of ballistic and hypersonic missiles used” on Ukraine. Skybytsky added that “Russia’s missile plan is on track—[a] pause in strikes isn’t coming.”
He explained that “Kiev, like Zaporizhzhia, Dnipro and Kharkiv, is a center of Ukraine’s defense industry. The enemy sees our defense industry as a serious threat and is closely monitoring two key areas. The first is our ballistic missile capabilities: they are trying to prevent us from moving to serial production of these weapons. The second is everything related to UAVs and FPV drones.”
