In the efforts of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and the ‘permanent war’ gang in the West to keep the U.S. President in line, Trump’s special envoy to Syria, Tom Barrack, has been targeted. Barrack did not ‘play ball’ last week in defending Netanyahu’s bombing attack in Syria. Leading the charge against him has been Israel’s unregistered lobbyist, Laura Loomer.
First, a Jerusalem Post story provided Israel’s justification, citing “a source familiar with the details” to say that Türkiye was indeed seeking to deploy radar systems in Syria, and then air defense systems operated by Turkish soldiers; and that was enough reason for Netanyahu to attack an unused air base in Syria. Barrack commented publicly that the attack was an “unnecessary escalation,” that Türkiye was not a threat to Israel, being uninterested in a military confrontation, and Syria’s recently installed President Ahmed al-Sharaa was not aggressive. Barrack has further held that Türkiye’s interest in stabilizing Syria does not mean that they seek to take control of Syria.
Further, according to Barrack, Türkiye had not been warned about the strike, and its aircraft could have been scrambled toward Israeli aircraft, a scenario that could have led to a direct confrontation between Israel and a NATO member. Israel’s 824NEWS reported Barrack’s warning that we were ‘a step away’ from military confrontation between Türkiye and Israel.
Presently, with the coup against Syrian President Assad, Syrian air space has been completely opened up to Israel’s Air Force assaults on Iran. Türkiye’s efforts to stabilize and rebuild Syria threaten Israel, in part because Turkish or Russian radar and air defense systems deployed in Syria could put a check upon Israeli aggression against Iran. While Israel claimed that Syria was preparing to violate the security status quo and allow a Turkish deployment at the base, Barrack responded that the Americans examined the information regarding a planned Turkish deployment and concluded that it was not taking place.
Laura Loomer, the attack dog for hardcore Zionist billionaire Robert Shillman, first criticized Barrack for questioning Israel’s attack on the Abu al-Duhur airbase in Syria, writing: “Tom Barrack is without a doubt one of the worst choices of the Trump administration. He always sides with the bad guys.” Then she called on Barrack to resign due to his lack of understanding of U.S. foreign policy. She claimed that Türkiye attempted to deploy advanced Russian air defense systems at bases in Syria ahead of a possible deployment of Turkish aircraft in the country.
Now, Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar attacked Barrack for saying things that were “full of inaccuracies” and that “contradict the position of Trump himself regarding the Golan Heights"—where Trump has conceded that the Golan Heights now belongs to Israel.
