The lesson of the abject failure of the AIPAC-styled attacks against Abdul El-Sayed, trying to prevent his Democratic Senate primary victory, has not been learned by his Republican opponent. Rep. Mike Rogers opened fire with a lot of bravado, noise and outright racism. His statement declared: “I spent years hunting terrorists and bringing Osama bin Laden to justice. Never in a million years did I think that I would be running against someone who believes America deserved 9/11.” The Senate Republican Conference kept things on a hyperventilating level, posting: “An alliance of communists and Islamists is taking control of the Democrat party.”
Such opening blasts, of the same moronic character used unsuccessfully against El-Sayed in the primary, ignore the amply demonstrated reality that most voters now respond to such incendiary rhetoric by rejecting the candidate slinging it.
