Aside from battlefield losses, attacks on oil infrastructure are also driving Saudi anxieties through the roof. While the Houthis were advancing to the south towards Bab al-Mandab, reports and imagery emerged of fires in at least two locations burning along the East-West pipeline in Saudi Arabia that carries crude oil from eastern Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea port of Yanbu—which has become doubly critical since the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. The attacks forced the shutdown of the pipeline.

No one has claimed responsibility, but the Saudis claimed that the attacks came from southern Iraq. The Saudi accusation was denied by the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, but immediately accepted by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al Zaidi, who fired both the militia commander and the police chief of Maysan Province, which lies on the border with Iran north of Kuwait.
