As of 5:30 a.m. Sept. 20, there has been no escalation with regard to the war on Iran. Concerns were raised when Trump returned to the White House from Camp David earlier than expected while Hegseth cut short a tour of defense firms in Texas to return to Washington. U.S. embassies in the Middle East issued security alerts for U.S. citizens, including Lebanon, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman. The alerts cite Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including civilian airports, and the potential for Iran or allied groups to target U.S. interests.

Al Jazeera’s live update page includes the following details on the situation:

Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf says Iran “must push the enemy back and deal devastating blows using our full military might” before any negotiations with the United States.
