On Sept. 25, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that definitively settles the issue of congressional redistricting in Missouri. The state will use the district map from 2022 in its general election this November.

Following a request in July 2025 by President Trump for Republican controlled states to redistrict their states to favor fellow Republicans, Missouri created a new, 2025, district map. However, 300,000 citizens signed a petition for a ballot initiative to prevent the use of the 2025 map unless it was approved by the voters in the November election. The State Supreme Court unanimously ruled that the 2025 map could not be used unless the map referendum passed in the November election. That ruling was subject to several other federal courts and appeals. The U.S. Supreme Court has now upheld the Missouri Supreme Court ruling.
