The possibility of the U.S., Russian, and Chinese heads of state meeting together in a trilateral meeting in November was raised with top Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov today at the SCO meeting in Bishkek. Reuters reported that, when asked whether U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and Chinese President Xi Jinping would meet at the next Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, he said: “This issue was discussed, yes.” He pointed out that all three were expected to attend the summit, adding: “And if it turns out as has been said, then the three of them will be able to have a meeting.”

Since the next APEC leaders’ summit, scheduled for November 18-19, will be held in China, the trilateral summit will depend upon Trump’s attendance and willingness. However, the White House did not confirm such a possibility. White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly told Reuters: “We have no announcements regarding President Trump’s attendance at APEC at this time.”
