Mobilize To Create the Cracks as Western Unipolar Order Disintegrates
by Stewart Battle (EIRNS) — Oct. 16, 2026
Without a doubt, the world today is in a rapid, and at times violent, transition away from a Western-dominated neocolonial order. The effects of this can be seen nearly everywhere, and are even more evident in the stubborn arrogance of those still clinging desperately to the past.
In Southwest Asia, the neocon 3.0 war against Iran waged by the U.S. and Israel is causing unforeseen consequences—now with the case of Saudi Arabia. After Houthi strikes have caused significant destruction across Saudi Arabia, including hobbling its oil exports, trading routes, and airports, the country has been forced to cancel more than a dozen international events over the coming months. Yet, as Saudi Arabia weathers a war it was not prepared for, the U.S.’s security umbrella is nowhere to be found. Adding insult to injury, U.S. President Donald Trump has even suggested that Israel could come to its aid.
Meanwhile, another unforeseen consequence has been the massive disruption to trade and oil markets from the ongoing conflict—which is now provoking a most biting irony. In a desperate bid to improve poll numbers in the lead-up to the Nov. 4 U.S. midterm elections, Trump has decided that he will place all the blame for high gas prices on Ukraine and its NATO-marionette Volodymyr Zelensky—despite the fact that all of Ukraine’s much-vaunted strikes on Russia’s oil infrastructure have been accomplished using American satellite targeting and intelligence. A soap opera is now ensuing as the Trump-Zelensky rift widens, with all signs pointing to the U.S. having decided to abandon Ukraine. There are even reports that the U.S. may be considering unfreezing some of Russia’s foreign reserves.
Of course, this now leaves European leaders with a difficult decision: Whether to face reality and walk away from a war which is increasingly threatening to engulf their nations, or to ignore the growing resentment and opposition brewing throughout their countries and march on toward a final showdown war with Russia. Unfortunately, many appear stubbornly attached to the latter.
As Helga Zepp-LaRouche told participants in the Oct. 16 meeting of the International Peace Coalition, we should be expecting “a lot more surprises, possibly terrible ones, maybe good ones,” over the next few weeks leading up to the several landmark elections around the world. But, quoting Pax Christi leader Jack Gilroy, “a moment of crisis is an incredible moment of opportunity,” as long as we get people to mobilize and become organizers for a solution to the crisis.
The breakdown in the established order is not only a breakdown in the structures of oligarchy and control—as significant as that is—but it is also a breakdown in the mental shackles that have been its means of enforcement. The necessary liberation of mankind from this dying system is not merely to defeat today’s depraved Epstein Class—it is, as Lyndon LaRouche insisted, to establish for a growing number of citizens “the right to participate in lifting mankind to a higher condition, both through reliving the most crucial creative artistic and scientific discoveries of all mankind before us, but also the joy of adding to that stock of discoveries through the cultivation of our own creative-mental powers in this way.”
That is the meaning of the creation of a new security and development architecture today, which takes into account the interests of every nation and treats the needed economic development of the world as the surest guarantee of peace.
