Foreign Minister of Iran Abbas Araghchi called his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, on Sunday night, just as the situation with Yemen seemed to be spinning out of control. “During the call, they discussed the recent escalation in the region and the efforts being made to address it,” the Saudi foreign ministry said in a statement on X.

According to the Iranian readout, Araghchi advised Farhan that there’s no military solution to the war in Yemen. He emphasized that persisting with a military approach while neglecting a political solution will only exacerbate the current situation. He added that Iran is ready to provide any assistance to help initiate dialogue between Saudi Arabia and Yemen and to assist in achieving a political solution.
