Oct. 29—President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s smashing victory in the Oct. 25 second round of Brazil’s presidential election, defeating his opponent, Flávio Bolsonaro, by 4.4 million votes, is a great boost to the power of the worldwide movement of nations which have set out to bury the ancient oligarchic principle of “might makes right,” as they build a system in which each nation peacefully cooperates with all others to bring progress to both their people and humanity as a whole.
The City of London and Wall Street had gone full tilt to oust Lula from power, as necessary for their strategic drive to destroy that movement in which the BRICS, and BRICS founding member, Brazil, are playing a major role. U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration played a key part in that operation, seeking to install Flávio in power in order to break Brazil’s steadfast refusal to go along with the 2025 U.S. National Security Strategy to drive Russia, China, and national sovereignty out of the Western Hemisphere. Flávio had duly promised that, should he win, he would pull Brazil out of the BRICS, join the Trump administration’s Shield of the Americas militarize-to-loot operation, and destroy Brazil with a “chainsaw” austerity policy modeled on that of Argentina’s President Javier Milei. That gambit has backfired—and the world knows it.
