Republican leaders and top officials are feeling the heat from Tuesday’s elections. House Speaker Mike Johnson does not plan to stay on as Republican leader in the new Congress, and reportedly told staff on a Nov. 4 call that he will not run for minority leader, reported The Hill. Axios notes that Johnson told CBS News in October that he planned to remain the top House Republican whatever the outcome.

Majority Leader Steve Scalise and Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan are claimed to be possible candidates to replace him.
