The US should extend multilevel cooperation with Russia in areas of Interest, U.S. presidential candidate Diane Sare told TASS, Russia’s official press agency. Published on November 6, the interview is the second installment of an interview, the first part of which was published on November 5.

While warning that U.S.-Russian relations might suffer under a Democratic Party majority in Congress, Sare expressed her vision for the future:

“I believe that the United States and Russia should work to expand areas of common interest. The collaboration of our space programs has been productive and should be expanded. We should also encourage cultural exchanges,” she said, pointing to efforts by the U.S. Department of Energy to promote nuclear energy and the significant strides Russia is making toward fourth-generation high-temperature reactors.

Sare wants to build a tunnel beneath the Bering Strait—a project she said “would usefully orient the United States toward Russia and Asia, away from the backward European economies.”

“I would very much like to see the United States abandon the anti-American notion of global hegemony and instead collaborate with Russia and China on the development of Africa and South America. We are shooting ourselves in the foot by antagonizing the entire world—not to mention the people who are dying as a result of our policies,” Sare concluded.
