Iran President Masoud Pezeshkian, accompanied by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, is attending the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, along with heads of state and officials from the other nine SCO member nations, and 17 partner nations and guests. Pres. Pezeshkian met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. Preliminary accounts report that Pezeshkian said, “Reason, logic tell us to avoid war; some in the U.S. see their interests in prolonging conflict,” adding that Iran seeks peace and security, but the U.S. has put aside diplomatic procedures for warpath.
All accounts report that expanding India-Iran trade relations was an important topic between the leaders, exactly the action that the U.S. “Operation Economic Outcast” unilaterally declares must stop. Modi, who expressed satisfaction with his meeting with Pezeshkian, stated, “During the recent difficult times, we have tried to continue and maintain our cooperation and communications with Iran.” Modi gave no indication of any intention of following the orders from Washington to cut off all trade and cooperation with Iran. Indian TV news reports that Modi has agreed to expand and extend trade between the two nations.
