Major General Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), said in a TV interview aired on Saturday that he has studied U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance’s letter but has not responded to it yet. He said that diplomatic efforts had been underway for more than a month and that Washington continued to insist on holding talks, reported Mehr News. However, he stressed that Iran had made clear that neither the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened nor would negotiations with the United States take place until Iran’s seven conditions were met.
Six of Iran’s seven conditions, as Rezaei told Al Jazeera on Sept. 20, are:
An end to the war on all fronts, including, in particular, Lebanon.
The release of its frozen funds that run into billions of US dollars.
An end to the naval blockade on Iranian ports.
