Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first world leader to call Russian President Vladimir Putin after the successful conclusion of the Russian referendum, which assures President Putin’s ability to run again for office.The Prime Minister warmly congratulated Putin on the success of the celebrations marking the 75th anniversary of the victory in the Second World War, and also for the successful completion of the vote on constitutional amendments in Russia. The Prime Minister also made note of the Indian contingent that participated in the June 24th parade. The two also discussed the COVID-19 threat, and agreed on closer Indian-Russian ties in addressing the problems of the world in the post-COVID era. The two leaders will hold a bilateral summit later this year.
