Putin Meets with Egyptian Foreign Minister, Offers To Create Grain Hub in Egypt

Russian President Vladimir Putin [met with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on April 2 at the Kremlin. Putin issued an invitation to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to visit Russia and to attend the Russia-Africa summit scheduled for October this year. He noted that Russia is already involved in building the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant in Egypt, with 10 more Russian companies expressing interest in becoming involved in that. Putin also proposed to build a grain and energy hub project in Egypt.

The Foreign Minister expressed thanks for the Russian work on the nuclear power facility and noted that Egypt was also interested in establishing a Russian industrial zone in Egypt. Putin moreover reiterated his commitment to do everything possible to bring the conflict in Iran to a conclusion. He further underlined that Egypt and Russia should work together on this.
