U.S. Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler of the Northern District of California issued an order granting a preliminary injunction on President Donald Trump’s anti-WeChat executive order #13943, which would have effectively shut down WeChat in the U.S., or at least made it impossible to install or update via app stores and severely degrade its performance. The order concludes: “The court grants the plaintiffs’ motion for a nationwide injunction against the implementation” of the executive order.
