House Speaker Nancy Pelosi this morning doubled-down on her call for Joe Biden not to debate Donald Trump. Previously, she confided to the press: “Don’t tell anybody I told you this. Especially don’t tell Joe Biden. I don’t think that there should be any debates.” Asked by CBS News’ Gayle King this morning whether she still thought that, she affirmed, yes. “Not that I don’t think [Biden] would be excellent, I just think that the President has no fidelity to fact or truth, and actually ... no fidelity to the Constitution of the United States.” The first debate is scheduled for next Tuesday, Sept. 29.
