Former CIA Counter-Terrorism officer and member of the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, John Kiriakou, posted a piece in Consortium News December 27, which took aim at the entire third world war crowd in Washington. Titled, “Those Nasty Russians,” Kiriakou’s piece, although a bit timid, strongly faults the New York Times “and others” who have asserted that Russia has “massed [troops] on the Ukraine border ready to invade at the drop of a hat. That’s simply not true,” he says— because any serious invasion would require “at least 300,000” troops, “There is no imminent threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine,” he states.
