At a joint press conference in Israel yesterday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that he will do everything he considers to be necessary to defend his country. Scholz agreed and condemned Hamas’ attacks “in the strongest terms” and assured his host that Germany is aware of its responsibility. But Scholz did remind Netanyahu that there are innocent civilians in Gaza and humanitarian aid should be sent as soon as possible. Netanyahu replied that whatever happens in the Gaza Strip, Hamas is guilty for that.
