On Nov. 6, dockworkers in Barcelona, Spain refused to load weapons onto ships bound for Israel, in a protest against the continued slaughter of innocent lives there. In a statement released by the Organization of Port Workers of Barcelona (OEPB), the workers stressed their intent to defend universal human rights and to oppose any form of violence, something which, they point out, many signers of the Magna Carta have seemingly forgotten. Interestingly they also include weapons shipments to Ukraine as part of their protest.
The statement says that their sole purpose is the protection of civilian lives, and that “no cause justifies the sacrifice of civilians.” The statement also calls for an immediate ceasefire.
