President Joe Biden’s campaign visit to Michigan on Jan. 31 was noteworthy for the snub by Arab Americans. His campaign manager was in the Detroit region a week in advance, trying to get openings for Biden in the largest concentration in North America of Arab Americans, but none would open up. Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud would not even meet with Biden’s representative. When Biden did visit this week with UAW members, whose union leadership had endorsed him in January, there was a demonstration outside the union offices, with chants demanding “Ceasefire Now!”
