Brits Pressure Trump on More U.S. Funds for Extending Ukraine Fighting

April 9, 2024 (EIRNS)—As the U.S. House of Representatives turns to the matter of whether to continue funding for the proxy war, via Ukraine, against Russia, Britain’s Foreign Secretary David Cameron flew to a meeting in Florida yesterday with former President Donald Trump, before spending today lobbying in Washington for continuing the war. Cameron’s message is that victory for Ukraine is “vital for American and European security.”

Trump’s campaign issued a statement afterwards saying that the meeting was held to discuss the need for NATO allies to meet their commitments on defense spending and “ending the killing in Ukraine.” It added that they had “also discussed their mutual admiration for the late Queen Elizabeth II.” Cameron was to meet today with Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell and said that he was hoping to meet with House Speaker Mike Johnson. However, Cameron’s attempts throughout yesterday and today have been rebuffed.
