Yesterday, Putin held two key meetings with defense industry leaders and military district commanders. Attendees included outgoing Defense Minister Shoigu (new Russian Security Council Secretary) and new Defense Minister Andrey Belousov.

In the defense industry meeting, Putin emphasized the need to boost defense industry efficiency while continuing national economic development. He highlighted the importance of defense enterprises’ ability to diversify and switch to civilian production when needed.

“A lot has been accomplished, but even more needs to be done to expand the defense industries, keeping in mind that these enterprises should also continue to focus on diversification,” Putin stated, stressing the importance of maintaining social and macroeconomic stability despite ongoing military operations.

Putin assigned specific tasks to new ministers: Shoigu will work within the Military-Industrial Commission and with international partners, while Denis Manturov, appointed First Deputy Prime Minister, will focus on concentrating financial and administrative resources for military organization improvements. Belousov will monitor economic aspects.

Putin also appointed Anton Alikhanov as Minister of Industry and Trade, and Alexei Dyumin as a presidential aide to support Rostec and ensure the Armed Forces have necessary combat assets. Rostec CEO Sergei Chemezov and Dmitry Medvedev also attended the meeting.
