Former President Donald Trump had promised to release all the JFK assassination documents during his term as President, but reneged on his pledge. Last week, at his August 23 evening rally in Glendale, Arizona, he pledged to follow through on the document release, and to also launch an investigation. He said, while introducing Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and thanking him for his endorsement, “I will establish a new independent presidential commission on assassination attempts, and they will be tasked with releasing all of the remaining documents pertaining to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.”
He added: “They will also conduct a rigorous review of the attack last month,” referring to his July 13 rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where he narrowly survived an assassination attempt. Today a bipartisan Congressional task force went to Butler to confer with local authorities on how that could happen.
