Russian Media Influence Operation: A Tempest in a Teapot?

The FBI announced with fanfare its indictment against Russian individuals accused of illegally paying social media personalities for making videos and posts. While the return generated to Russia by this alleged investment is meager at best, consider what is not prosecuted:

In June, the New York Times reported on $2 million spent in 2023 by Israel’s Ministry of Diaspora Affairs on influencing public and political opinion in the United States. The resources were used to create fake news sites, fake accounts, and bot-generated posts referring to those sites and viewpoints.
