Israeli Forces Forcing Hospitals in Northern Gaza To Choose Between Expulsion or Destruction

Accounts of what’s happening in Jabalia and elsewhere suggest in the northern Gaza Strip, suggest that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) is operating with exceptional cruelty against the Palestinians. Earlier this week, reported Middle East Eye, Israeli forces issued expulsion orders for three main hospitals in northern Gaza—Kamal Adwan, Al-Awda, and Indonesian Hospital, giving them a day to flee. The army threatened that if they didn’t leave, they would face “the same fate as Al-Shifa Hospital, with destruction, killing and arrest,” according to a statement by the Palestinian Health Ministry.

Medical staff at the besieged Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza have described the situation as “catastrophic,” with the lives of children in its overcrowded intensive care unit at risk amid dwindling fuel and medical supplies, according to a separate MEE report. The hospital’s director, Dr. Husam Abu Safiyeh, refused to comply with the expulsion orders. as he said transporting the patients could prove deadly for them.
