Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association, told TASS, yesterday that Ukraine does not have the capability to build nuclear weapons “in a few weeks,” as one unnamed Ukrainian official was quoted as saying by Germany’s Bild tabloid this week. “Ukraine is a member in good standing with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty [NPT] and is in no position to build nuclear weapons now or in the future,” Kimball said. “Serious leaders understand that nuclear weapons are mass terror weapons, not simply a bigger kind of bomb, and therefore nuclear war cannot be won and must not be fought,” he said.
