On Nov. 1 the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) voted 2 to 1 to block plans to increase power delivery from the current 300 MW to 480 MW for an Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center from the Susquehanna Nuclear Power facility, according to Power Magazine. The FERC ruled that the agreement would make the power grid reliability more vulnerable and undermine cost fairness. These are all new issues and there are no federal guidelines so members of the commission are now acting more carefully knowing that any ruling they make will be used to set a precedent.
