Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov warned in an interview with Interfax published today that Russia could well sever diplomatic relations with the United States, if the U.S. went ahead to confiscate frozen Russian assets or if it escalated the conflict in Ukraine, according to coverage in Izvestia. He noted, however, that this was not a final decision, but that “the option of severance may be considered without predetermining how this consideration will end in such a situation,” RT reported.
