Russia announced that its Center for Unmanned Systems and Technologies (CBST) has developed a new monitoring system, called Kalinka, which is designed to detect and locate signals from satellite communication stations, such as Starlink. The system would be able to pinpoint Starlink-equipped drones and boats (both moving and stationary) and allow Russian forces to target them at distances of up to 15 km. Kalinka is currently undergoing combat tests, and could be integrated into various platforms, including jet skis, boats, and helicopters.
“The new system can help quickly detect and target Starlink terminals because the basic principles of radio signal transmission have not changed since the invention of radio, says Andrey Bezrukov, chairman of the CBST board,” reports Sputnik. “According to Bezrukov, not even the use of Starshield, a militarized version of Starlink, by Ukrainian troops would hide their communication terminals from Kalinka’s gaze.”
