China’s Foreign Ministry announced this morning that the nation’s Vice President, Han Zheng, will be attending the inauguration of Donald Trump in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 20 “at the invitation of the U.S. side.” President Xi Jinping had been invited but Han will attend as his special representative. As reported by Xinhua, a spokesman for the Ministry said “we stand ready to work with the new U.S. government to enhance dialogue and communication, properly manage differences, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, jointly pursue a stable, healthy and sustainable China-U.S. relationship, and find the right way for the two countries to get along with each other.”
