Russia Dubs Ukraine ‘a New British Colony’ under Hundred-Year Treaty

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova dismissed the U.K.-Ukraine Hundred-Year Treaty as little more than a PR stunt yesterday. “We consider it to be another PR step of the agonizing Kiev regime which is ready to sign any deal on the sale of the country and make it a new British colony.” she said in a Ministry statement

Zakharova recalled that the document covers various spheres, including trade, science, energy and others. “The document covers various spheres—trade, science, power engineering and so forth. It contains provisions dealing with defense. In particular the parties agreed to establish partnership in maritime security to, among other things, strengthen security of the Baltic Sea, the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.

“This savors of long-time aspiration of London to consolidate its grip in the aforementioned waters, especially the Sea of Azov—the Black Sea basin. Kiev will get only a supporting role despite all of its geopolitical claims.

“We would like to warn the Bankovaya Street and the Downing Street dreamers that there is no room for cooperation in the Sea of Azov either for Ukraine or the United Kingdom. Following the reunification of the Donetsk People’s Republic, Zaporozhye and Kherson Regions with Russia in September 2022, the Sea of Azov became internal waters of the Russian Federation. Any claims on these waters are a gross interference in internal affairs of our country and will be severely suppressed,” Zakharova stressed.

She concluded the Ministry statement: “A hundred years is a symbolic but a non-binding term. In case of the fall of Zelenskyy’s dictatorship or resignation of Prime Minister of the United Kingdom there will hardly be anyone to remember this agreement.

“However, it is regretful that on the 80th anniversary of the victory over the Nazism in the WWII the leadership of the United Kingdom, our ally of the time, vows to support Ukrainian Bandera Neo-Nazis. We hope that at least someone in London is ashamed of the fact.”
