Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova responded during her briefing today to President Trump’s comments this week that he could impose sanctions if Russian President Putin does not accept a proposal to end the conflict in Ukraine. She called on the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump to correct Joe Biden’s mistakes, rather than repeat them. Sending NATO “peacekeepers” to Ukraine, she stressed, is categorically unacceptable for Moscow. At the same time, the diplomat warned, Russia will respond appropriately to any provocations by the “bloody bloc” of NATO in the Baltic Sea.
In response to a journalist’ requests for comment during her briefing, Zakharova replied: “It is unlikely that repeating what Biden and his regime did will be a correction of mistakes.”
And what do they do with mistakes that were made in the name of the country or in the course of governing the state, she asked, and then answered herself: “They are corrected. Therefore, it seems to me that since the current administration of President Trump has repeatedly stated, acknowledged, and provided arguments in favor of the fact that the situation in Ukraine is the result of the mistakes of the previous administration, these mistakes probably need to be corrected.”
