Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping spoke at length by phone yesterday to review their comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation: “we provided guidance for the growth of China-Russia relations in 2025 and coordinated position on many major international and regional issues,” the Chinese Foreign Minister quoted Xi as saying.

The President’s website described the tone of the call as “warm and friendly.” Putin briefed Xi on the Feb. 18 high-level talks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, between U.S. and Russian delegations, for which Xi expressed his full support and offered to help in any way possible to ensure a peaceful resolution of the Ukraine conflict.
