All the talk in Europe about sending troops to Ukraine ignores the fact that Russia will never agree to any such scheme as part of a peace deal. At the Kremlin, spokesman Dmitry Peskov reported that no formal talks have even been held regarding the deployment of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine. “The Europeans are currently speaking a lot about peacekeeping troops—the French, the British, and others. ... But we all understand the procedures for deploying peacekeepers. As of now, no substantial discussions have taken place on this issue,” the Kremlin spokesman remarked.

Regarding the potential deployment of British or German peacekeeping forces in Ukraine, Peskov stated, “It’s challenging to discuss this.”
