Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, responded sharply to Democrats whom he accused of trying to delay a confirmation vote for Kash Patel, nominee for Director of the FBI. Yesterday, according to Politico, Democratic members of the Committee wrote to Grassley to request that a second “formal” hearing for Patel be scheduled, because they wanted him to clarify “apparent falsehoods” made during his first hearing Jan. 30. In addition to wanting to “assess” the grand jury testimony Patel gave in relation to prosecutor Jack Smith’s investigation earlier this year of Donald Trump’s keeping classified documents in his Mar-a-Largo residence, the Senators also wanted to question Patel about the recent firings of many FBI agents.
