ADL Conference Draws Protests, a Walkout, and Boos

March 4, 2025 (EIRNS)—The March 3-4 “Never Is Now” conference in New York of the Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith (ADL), was designed to give it greater political clout, but may have caused even bigger splits in the Jewish community. Visible divisions came early when the featured speaker, former congresswoman and nominee to be the U.S. Representative at the United Nations Elise Stefanik took the stage.

Stefanik was introduced by ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt, who called her “exactly what we need” at the UN. According to the Jerusalem Post, during her speech there were “boos” from the audience and a significant “walkout” when she said that the October 7, 2023 attacks in Israel would never have happened if Trump had been re-elected. Coverage in Haaretz focused on the “boos” and implied that some of the dissatisfaction may have also been directed at Stefanik’s characterization of the United Nations and university campuses as “anti-Semitic.”
