March 8, 2025 (EIRNS)—In light of the major cuts in federal organizations responsible for science and health, demonstrations to “Stand Up For Science” have been organized across the United States by graduates and newer career scientists. While many of the cuts have hit some of the pseudo-climate science programs and similar “flakey” schemes, they are also hitting important federal government organizations, including the National Weather Service, OSHA, NASA, and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The ultimate consequences of these cuts are still difficult to predict, but it is clear they will negatively affect the development of science and technology, including in the field of medicine in the United States, contrary to Trump’s ultimate goal of a “great” America.
