A week of hearings started today in the United Nation’s top court, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), to deal with the 50 day blockade of food, medicine, and other vital supplies to Gaza. The UN has requested that the ICJ judges at The Hague give an advisory opinion to clarify Israel’s legal obligations to “ensure and facilitate the unhindered provision of urgently needed supplies essential to the survival of the Palestinian civilian population.” Israel stopped all aid supplies to Gaza on March 2.

According to the World Food Program, 90% of the residents of Gaza “face acute levels of food insecurity,” and about 2 million people depend upon food assistance. Meanwhile, the WFP says it has completely depleted its food supply in Gaza, but has 116,000 metric tons of food waiting to be airlifted into Gaza, but the borders are sealed. Any starvation is clearly a deliberate act of genocide.
