In what would ordinarily be normal operating procedure for a foreign diplomat, U.S. Ambassador to Russia Lynn Tracy laid a wreath today at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow, during an event honoring the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. Several foreign diplomats participated in the solemn occasion, which was accompanied by the Military Orchestra of the Guard of Honor. Today’s event is particularly important since it is the anniversary of the day U.S. and Soviet troops fighting to liberate Germany from the Nazis finally met at the Elbe River.
