Andriy Portnov was assassinated today in Madrid, just after dropping off his children at the American School. Ukraine’s notorious Myrotvorets hit squad de facto took credit for the contract killing, by publishing a photo purportedly of Portnov’s dead body on the ground, with a big red diagonal banner across it, reading “Liquidated”—their trademark terror tactic. Myrotvorets first targeted Portnov with a lengthy entry on him back in 2015.
Portnov was a leading opposition figure in Ukraine, and the Zelenskyy gang is on a drive to eliminate political opponents in advance of elections that someday might have to be held in that country. In 2014, Portnov was the First Deputy Head of Ukraine’s Presidential Administration for President Viktor Yanukovych and was a member of the January 2014 working group on resolving the Euromaidan crisis. He was forced to flee the country, as was Yanukovych, when a wave of arrests of Yanukovych’s supporters began.
The well-known Myrotvorets death list functions jointly with the neo-Nazi Ukrainian government Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD), which is financed by the British government and—at least until recently—the U.S. State Department.
Emergency services today at the scene of the Madrid assassination could only confirm that Portnov had suffered several bullet wounds in the back and the head. Witnesses reported that at least one unidentified attacker fired several shots at Portnov, before fleeing into a wooded area in a nearby public park. Police drones and a helicopter searched the area for a gunman, who may have had at least one accomplice riding on a motorbike, according to local reports.
Ivan Katchanovski, famed for his in-depth research on “third force” killings of both demonstrators and police on the Euromaidan in 2014, in order to undermine the negotiated settlement, reported today: “Former Zelenskyy adviser accuses him of assassination of ex-senior Ukrainian official in Spain. Pro-Zelenskyy & far-right bloggers in Ukraine praise his assassination & call for assassinations of ex-Zelenskyy adviser & popular exiled Ukrainian journalist in Spain. Western media & governments are silent.”
He displayed the posting of former Zelenskyy adviser Oleskiy Arestovych, who asserted: “The murder of Andrey Portnov is 99% likely Zelenskyy preparing for elections. Threats of murder from Telegram channels associated in Ukraine with the Office of the President, immediately directed at me and Antoliy Shariy, and a possible threat to Oleksiy Honcharenko, reveal the intent: to deprive the so-called ‘OPZZh’ (The Opposition Platform-For Life) electorate of potential ‘leaders'.... The political terror unleashed by Zelenskyy’s regime has turned into blatant international terrorism; a Ukrainian citizen was killed on the territory of a NATO and EU country.”
