Russian President Vladimir Putin delivered greetings to the 16th International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World Kazan Forum,” the largest Russian-Islamic event that is held each year. It will take place over May 13-18 in Kazan, Tatarstan Republic, about 55% of whose population is Muslim. Last year, more than 20,000 people attended from 87 countries.
Putin said in his remarks: “For centuries, our multinational country has maintained open and extensive ties with countries of the Islamic world. Today, even amid a challenging global landscape, we continue to steadily and successfully expand our economic, scientific, educational, humanitarian, and interregional cooperation. Notably, Tatarstan stands out as one of the most active regions of the Russian Federation in fostering these productive and constructive relationships.
“Throughout the forum, you will explore opportunities to further strengthen our cooperation across a wide range of fields, including technological development. A key focus will be the collaborative effort to build a digital financial system, which will be addressed in a dedicated meeting of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, with the participation of representatives from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.”
