Xi Jinping Leads Discussion on Next Five Year Plan, Focus on Science and Production

Chinese President Xi Jinping participated in a symposium April 30 to develop China’s Five Year Plan for Economic and Social Development for 2026-2030, which will constitute China’s 15th Five Year Plan. The symposium, held in Shanghai, was attended by senior officials from several provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions.

Xi addressed the symposium to provide the overarching concepts that will guide the country’s development, which will be implemented by China’s State Council in coordination with the National Development and Reform Commission.

President Xi, unlike the prattling of the leaders of all Western governments about so-called “economics,” focused his emphasis on science and production.

China Daily, in a May 1 article, “Xi: Formulate Five-Year Plan Scientifically,” reports the President’s dialogue:

“Efforts must be made to ensure that the targets and tasks that will be laid out in the next five-year plan are scientific and precise, and will be met as scheduled.

“Xi highlighted the strategic importance of developing new quality productive forces tailored to local conditions, saying that the country’s development should be driven by technological innovation, with the real economy being the foundation.
