Israeli Scientist Issues Call of Hope for Joint Israeli-Iranian Collaboration

Standing in front of two buildings at the Weizmann Institute that had been demolished by Iranian missiles on June 19, Roee Ozeri, the Vice President of Development and Communication at the Institute, urged for joint collaboration of Israeli and Iranian scientists to work together and conduct research for the benefit of mankind.

The filmed video was apparently not released in full until June 24, containing the crucial section. In the video, Ozeri first reports that, of the Institute’s more than 100 buildings, 50 “got some damage,” and that 5 of the buildings—including the 2 he was standing in front of—were severely damaged. Some of the research of the scientists at the Institute, he reported, was permanently lost.

Yet, at this moment, he issued a statement of hope and commitment to science, should the world get beyond the stage of destruction. He stated: “I wish that a day will come very, very soon in which Iranian scientists and Israeli scientists would collaborate and work together and perform scientific research for the future of mankind. That’s what we do here at the Weizmann Institute, and I hope there will come a day where we’ll be able to do it together with Iranian scientists.”
