The so-called Gaza Humanitarian Fund’s aid distribution center in Gaza’s Rafah denied any connection to the mass killings yesterday, with 179 casualties arriving at the Red Cross hospital. The hospital reported that a majority of them suffered gunshot or shrapnel wounds, and 21 were declared dead upon arrival. They said that “all patients said they had been trying to reach an aid distribution site.” The Gaza Civil Defense agency reported a death toll of 31, indicating some died without making it to the hospital.
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) said its teams at the Nasser hospital in nearby Khan Younis also treated people with serious injuries, some of whom were in a critical condition.
It added the patients “reported being shot at from all sides by Israeli drones, helicopters, boats, tanks and soldiers,” and that one staff member’s brother was “killed while attempting to collect aid from the distribution center.” It is no small irony that those behind the cutoff of aid from the UN-associated bodies, those behind the supposed GHF replacement, had loudly claimed that they could provide better security for the Gazan populations.
