Russian Students Celebrate Graduation in St. Petersburg with the ‘Scarlet Sails’

Tens of thousands of graduates filled St. Petersburg’s Palace Square in front of the Hermitage to observe the evening’s celebrations of the Scarlet Sails.The evening began with dozens of World War II Katyusha rockets firing from the Troitsky Bridge into the night sky, followed by a giant 18th-century sailing frigate with sails of red scarlet coming into the area of the Square, with the ship illuminated and with fireworks lighting up the sky.
