Another Shooting Incident in the Strait of Hormuz

There was another shooting incident overnight between U.S. and Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz, putting the fragile ceasefire even further in doubt. “The U.S. military carried out new strikes targeting an Iranian drone operation that posed a threat to U.S. forces and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz,” an unnamed U.S. official told Reuters. The U.S. official said the U.S. military shot down four Iranian attack drones and struck a ground control station in the port city of Bandar Abbas that was about to launch a fifth drone. “These actions were measured, purely defensive and intended to maintain the ceasefire,” the official claimed.

Iranian sources confirmed that there was a clash in the Strait of Hormuz and that the IRGC fired four drones at the Ali Salem Airbase in Kuwait. According to the reports, several American vessels attempted to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without prior coordination, prompting a response from Iran’s naval forces. Air defense systems were also activated in the area, with multiple explosions reportedly heard across eastern parts of Hormozgan, reported WANA.
