Iran Disputes UAE Claims of Missile and Drone Attacks

For the two days of “Project Freedom,” the UAE claimed Iran had fired dozens of missiles and drones at it, most of which it said were repelled with the exception of a drone strike on an oil facility in Fujairah. The UAE defense ministry said yesterday that the country’s air defences were “currently dealing with missile and drone attacks originating from Iran,” Middle East Eye reported yesterday, and that the explosions people were hearing were “the result of the UAE’s air defence systems intercepting ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and drones.”

The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement disputing the UAE claims, in which it advised the UAE to stop its collaboration with Israel and the US.

“Over the past two days, while the illegal and provocative actions of the US terrorist military in the region and their maritime movements under the deceptive guise of humanitarian aid have intensified, Abu Dhabi officials have also engaged in visible cooperation with the American aggressor, in an approach contrary to the principle of good neighborliness and violating the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter, threatening Iran’s security and national interests,” it said. “Despite this, the Islamic Republic of Iran has shown maximum restraint with a responsible approach and in line with respecting the collective good of the region and the Islamic Ummah.
