Cannabis Users 'Remember' Things that Didn't Happen

Researchers at Washington State University conducted a study on 120 regular cannabis users to see how acute cannabis use affected memory. Participants were randomly assigned to vape a placebo with no THC, 20 mg of THC or 40 mg of THC, in a double-blind experiment. Surprisingly, to the researchers, the amount of THC imbibed did not seem to make a difference, but there was a marked difference between those who consumed THC and those who got the placebo.

For example, those who had used cannabis were significantly more likely to remember hearing a word on a list that had actually never been uttered. Also, cannabis users were more likely to be unable to remember the source of information that they had learned earlier.
